Mercer Street Loft by DHD Architecture and Design

Located on a lower floor in SoHo, the Mercer Street Loft, designed by DHD Architecture and Design, blends original features with modern design to create a cohesive space. The original floors and tin ceiling bring warmth to the large open space. While the loft has a row of large street-facing windows, the overall space gets limited natural light. To allow light and air to flow throughout, partial height walls were added.

Despite the fact that it’s a loft space, the layout establishes room definition with furniture placement. The owner has an assorted mix of art and found objects that work well together by being thoughtfully placed around the loft. The white walls showcase each piece, as well as the furnishings, and make them stand out.

The original cast iron columns were stripped and add a nice detail, especially the one in the corner of the kitchen.

I can’t decide which bathroom I like more – the large, open space with neutral tones and pops of red, or the more industrial, monochromatic gray one. Let’s be honest, I could live with both.
