Even if you don’t know their name, the bright and playful patterns of Finnish design house Marimekko’s catalog of textiles, home and fashion wares should be a recognizable. The iconic design house founded in 1951 by Finnish couple, Armi and Viljo Ratia, has evolved from humble beginnings and grown into a global design brand synonymous with fashionable contemporary abstract fabric designs.
Marimekko can now add tech accessories amongst the multitude of products dressed up in their distinctly bold and pop patterns – specifically Marimekko-patterned skins and two sleeves matched to customize the Microsoft Surface Pro.
The Marimekko for Microsoft Surface accessories line is comprised of skins, sleeves, and a special edition Type Cover for Microsoft’s flagship convertible-portable device, each printed with numerous patterns from the design house’s catalog: the Unikko and Kaivo patterns designed by Maija Isola in 1964, alongside Räsymatto and Siirtolapuutarha, both conceived by Maija Louekari in 2009.
The skins shown above are joined by two protective carrying sleeves, one adorned in perhaps the brand’s most recognizable and famous pattern design, the poppy-adorned Unikko, the other in Räsymatto (rag rug) prints. A limited edition Marimekko Type Cover in Siirtolapuutarha and Kaivo rounds out the limited edition collection.
If bright pattern prints aren’t your thing, you might find sedate and sophisticated satisfaction with Microsoft’s newest color announcement: an aqua tinted accessory line comprised of their Type Cover, Surface Arc Mouse, and Surface Pen.
