Located near Philip Johnson’s famed Glass House in New Canaan, CT, BassamFellows extensively renovated this mid-century modern house, originally designed by architect Willis Mills. They updated it for today’s use while restoring its original character. The wood siding and stonework around the house blend perfectly with the lush surrounding landscape while the interior is filled with light from the many floor-to-ceiling windows. The furniture and fixtures adhere to simple white, black, wood, and chrome finishes. BassamFellows did the beautifully styled interiors as well.

Wow, this is one of the best spaces I’ve seen blogged about in a while. I like how they don’t try to hard at “modernizing” the interior. It all feels cohesive, somewhat austere, and beautiful.

This looks like the Cullen’s house from the Twilight movies…

Simple, elegant, refined. I imagine myself there with a beautiful, gentle snow falling outside, a good book and something yummy in the oven. Thank you for the beautiful post. Rick

That’s a truly beautiful house, and a great renovation work, but there’s one thing I’m missing from the article: I would love to know the name of the original architect and a bit of the history of the house.
Thank you!

Natural light is very important in houses, I think this house is probably the best example of usage of light tunnels. Very nice ‘house review’

They’re also designed by BassamFellows, the designers of the home.
