Minimalist, Simple Designs by Nicholas Oldroyd

Minimalistic approach? Socially responsible packaging? Elegant and functional designs? Check, check, and check. We’re officially fans of Nicholas Oldroyd, the founder and designer behind NO.design.

Oldroyd is English but made his way across the North Sea to Denmark in Copenhagen. He worked for Foster+Partners for several years in both London and San Francisco before establishing his studio. He has produced three products since then, all of which are high in quality, simple in design, and minimal in materials.

The Lysestage NO1 is a candleholder made from metal wire that has been bent seven times into a triangular, freestanding form. For the packaging, Oldroyd partnered with an organization that provides jobs for people with special needs.

The Spejl NO2 is made of wireform stand and a circular mirror that, together, juxtaposes light with heavy and solid with permeable. The stand is bent in a way that supports the weightier mirror, so that the two components come together as one structure.

Lastly, the Sofabord NO3 is a side table that assembles together quickly with one screw. The design allows the table to be moved quickly and seamlessly from one location to the other.

All three designs are available in different colors and finishes. With a couple products already out of stock at the time of this article, you might want head over to the NO.design shop to snag one for yourself.
