Mirante’s House is a renovation project brought about by Gisele Taranto Arquitetura in a swank neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro. The Brazilian architect was challenged to connect all the spaces located throughout different floors and different heights, as the original design was too disjointed.

I love how the facade completely changes when the aluminum shutters are moved. They help control light and temperature on the interior.

The focus was on the circulation of the house with a staircase installed in the entrance that’s made out of Saint Cecilia granite and weathering steel with glass banisters.

The ground level is now the social area with the living room, dining room, kitchen, and bathroom.

The house is built on a steep slope making the lower floors the private areas which feature seven master suites and a family room. The lowest floor boasts the outdoor area with a pool, a bathroom, and a mini kitchen.

I love the built-in levels within the rooms which provide extra square footage.
