Hedge is a new brand of outdoor accessories with colorful and lively shapes. Launched by Cora Neil, a Los Angeles-based environmental designer, Hedge aims to create exciting and fun ways for the urban dweller to add greenery to his or her home, whether on a patio, balcony, or a tiny corner in the kitchen. Cora has launched a Kickstarter to help get her new company off the ground – help make it happen!
HEDGE began as an element of a public garden space project Neil was developing while a student at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. Neil explains, “I was considering the way many people live today, with little to no outdoor space for a personal garden. I think this collection really addresses the need for the urban dweller to get close to nature on a daily basis.”
The planters are made of bent powder-coated steel and the insert is made with a sustainable coconut and latex material commonly used in hydroponics but is unique among home garden products. It provides great drainage for drought-tolerant succulents and cactus, herbs, ferns, and any plant that thrives in a small pot.
Each HEDGE planter is named after a pioneer woman of landscape and garden design: Gertrude Jekyll, Beatrix Farrand, Marian Cruger Coffin, and Florence Bell Robinson defied the male-dominated field and created garden spaces that continue to be celebrated today.
