Independent industrial and product designers Linn Kandel, Dimitri Bähler, and Ismaël Studer make up BKS and work between between Neuchâtel, Stockholm, and Paris. Their latest project, Fanions (French for ‘fringe’), was inspired by details on traditional rugs, like fringe.
For Fanions, they took the idea of fringe, modernized it, and used it in a graphical way on their collection of rugs. The direction of the new “fringe” creates an illusion and gives the rugs an almost 3D look.
Each rug is cut using an CNC machine from pure wool felt and comes in three colors.
