All gyms kind of look the same, don’t they? A little tired and not very inspiring. Then there’s La belle equipe, a Thai boxing gym in Paris designed by Spray Architecture. Located in an Art Nouveau building that’s classified as an historic monument, this gym aims to be unique and a friendly place for people to enjoy.
The space is split into two levels and originally the ground floor and basement were completely empty. Now the ground floor houses the reception area, a desk, a closet, and a tutoring space. In the basement, they created two changing rooms and a place for group boxing and yoga classes.
Light from the large glass roof creates a bright reception and relaxation room for the clients waiting.
A large library was created with knotted rope and boards.
The floor is made up of wood panels, some of which were varnished and lacquered in black and white, that are triangular in shape.
Behind sliding doors you’ll find a traditional boxing ring. On the far wall, they display champion trophies, belts, and photos.
Downstairs, the space is lit by the glass ceiling, which is the glass floor in the boxing room above.
