The Nanoleaf Aurora is mood lighting for the minimalist set in an app-for-everything era, a modular wall fixture LED lighting system designed to be arranged into countless geometric configurations without the requirement of a fixture. Unveiled at the 2016 CES, the flat panel system predicts a near future when screwing in a light bulb will seem as antiquated as wired internet, homes might lose the need for switches altogether, and homeowners will configure lighting directly onto their walls like puzzle pieces.
The fully customizable triangular units connect and operate in unison (up to 30, sharing one power supply), with the option to change colors from a rainbow palette via app like your very own James Turrell installation. Nanoleaf’s modular system is also HomeKit-enabled, meaning users will have the ability to command Siri to dim, turn off, or change the lights all by voice.
“Those interested in biohacking and the quantified self movement will be right at home experimenting with the Aurora to fine-tune their natural circadian rhythm. Custom programs can be created through our iOS app via standard home automation protocols, and panels can be mounted on any flat surface with double-sided tape.”
Although Nanoleaf hasn’t yet released pricing details, expect to see the Aurora available sometime in 2016 in starter packs of 10 units.

Love it… would like a link so I could pre-order 105 sets for my 105 room hotel in Phoenix, Arizona. There was a very similar product out about 12 years ago, when we first installed Color Kinetics systems in our restaurant and exterior of the hotel. Crazy to think that these used to be $250 for just 4 squares… but now I’m guessing this product will be around $50 for 10 triangles? Probably more since it’s a ‘design’ product… but I’m still interested in these for my hotel in Phoenix.

Hi Ben, there’s a direct link up above in the post to contact Nanoleaf directly for order inquiries. Look forward to seeing them up the next time we visit Phoenix!
