New Print Magazine Discovers New Talent at the World’s Design Fairs

Our very own Editor at Large, Katie Treggiden, and magCulture‘s Jeremy Leslie are launching Fiera, a biannual independent print magazine discovering new talent at the world’s design fairs, via Kickstarter.

Fiera

The front half of the magazine will contain high-energy coverage from the coal-face of the festival circuit. Katie will scour every show from dawn until dusk discovering the very best in new design. She will share the stories of the people and processes behind the designs, bringing the shows to life in a way that you could only experience by being there yourself.

“At the moment design fairs are extensively covered through blogs and social media. That coverage is brilliant – it’s vibrant, it’s dynamic, it’s exciting… it’s also as chaotic as the fairs themselves. Fiera magazine will take a step back, take a pause and offer some critical analysis that starts to make sense of it all,” says Katie.

The second half of the magazine will contain considered long-form content responding to the themes raised by the four fairs covered. Katie will provide macro trend analysis, and thought leaders from different disciplines such as creative writing, finance, and travel will offer an outside perspective.

Katie announced earlier today that Fiera Magazine will be working with creative writing organization 26 which exists to “to inspire a greater love of words.” Katie says, “I will pair 26 writers with 26 new designers and ask the writers to respond creatively to the products being designed and made for the London Design Festival. Gorgeous photography of the products will sit alongside the writers’ responses throughout Fiera Magazine.”

Covering London, Eindhoven, Lodz and Prague, the first issue will be published in November 2014 with an expected circulation of 1,000.

The magazine is available to pre-order via Kickstarter until 2:59 PM BST on 16 July 2014, so you have just seven days to grab your copy. Hurry!
