Custom synth maestro and creative madman Love Hultén’s work has long tended to skew toward the playful, colorful, and nostalgic. Only the latter of that description applies to his latest moody design, a new setup inspired by the Nostromo, the doomed spacecraft from the 1979 classic sci-fi horror film, Alien.
The darkly designed NOSTRX2 is a carefully crafted amalgamation comprising the new Syntrx2 from EricaSynths, LVX from MERIS, Empress Reverb, Elektron Analog Heat, Keystep, and a video scope from Critter & Guitari. The resulting sounds the setup is able to produce are impressively evocative of the “futuristic” soundtracks of the era, as it’s appropriately lo-res graphics display (or at least the recreation of it).
If you’re seeking a design executed on a slightly more cheerful note, but sharing an element of the space faring invasion theme, be sure to check out Love Hultén’s Area61 synth.
