With top-notch designers, students, manufacturers, and schools all exhibiting their innovative wares and collaborations, we continue our look at WantedDesign as it’s definitely a design destination not to be missed. Read Part 1 here.

Wanted2-2-DWR-Bluff-Jonah-Takagi

Design Within Reach’s exhibition “The Past, Present and Future of Authentic Modern Design” showcased designers who are the future of the design industry and the Bluff City Pendants (above) by Jonah Takagi were the first to catch our attention.

Wanted2-3-Bottle-Opener-Fort-Standard

The Brass Bottle Openers by Fort Standard are cast in hand-carved wax molds into the beautifully geometric designs of the finished minimalist product. The best part is that they don’t scream bottle opener. These were also part of the Design Within Reach exhibition.

Wanted2-4-Pillows-Tamasyn

We developed a slight textile crush on these Abstract Square and Textured Stripe Pillows by Tamasyn Gambell. Also part of the Design Within Reach exhibition.

Wanted2-6-Brasil-E3-Stool-Aleph-Zero

Fresh From Brasil displayed Brazilian talent, including the E3 Stool from the team at Aleph Zero. The laser cut metal spirals around holding wooden pieces in between to form a seat.

Wanted2-7-Renata-Moura-Goma-Stool

How can you not smile when you see the lit up Goma Stool with cartoon-like drawings on it from Renata Moura? Also part of the Fresh From Brasil exhibition.

Wanted2-13-Parsons-Paper-Seating

Student projects always seem to blow our minds and the Parsons The New School for Design had a really cool seating installation made from recycled fiberboard led by architects Moorhead & Moorhead, and sponsored by Homasote.

Wanted2-10-Quebec-Basma-Osama

From Quebec displayed for the first time at WantedDesign and they brought many talented designers including Basma Osama and her ceramic wall pieces on wood. She explained that these are words and she hand-makes each porcelain piece based on the emotion conveyed by the words.

Wanted2-12-Metylos-Paul-Stool

The Paul Side Table by the French company Metylos features their signature use of fabrics, like felt in this case, in the center of the table adding a nice textural detail.

Wanted2-7-RPNYC-LOrangerie-Planter

Raison Pure NYC L’Orangerie is a foundation that helps inner city high school students learn all about design and craftsmanship. Their booth featured student works that were all vessels for plants, including these bright orange and glass planters that you could bid on.

Wanted2-9-StudioRoco-Banana-Lamp

Based in Mexico City, Studioroca is a team of designers that specializes in interior, furniture, and product design and in honor of their 10th anniversary, they invited ten designers to develop a product for the collection on display at WantedDesign. Designer Sebastián Beltrán brings a little sense of humor with his Banana Light, or perhaps, a touch of Andy Warhol?

Wanted2-5-StudioRoco-Rubber-Lamps

Studioroca’s own team of designers created Lamp 02 with rubber tubing hanging down to create a lampshade.
