BKLYN Designs kicked off NYCxDesign week this past weekend with a bang. Around since 2003, the fair celebrates contemporary furniture, lighting, accessories, and art, all designed and made in Brooklyn. Besides the inspiring displays of work, there were lounges, pop-up shops, food trucks, and Tattly temporary tattoos to keep things rolling. It’s definitely a design even worth checking out in the future if you haven’t already! Take a look at some of our favorite designs.
The Drip/Fold side table from Noble Goods is made from bent ash plywood that then gets hand-finished with drips of liquid resin making each a one-of-a-kind.
GN Woodwork designed this double circle wall cabinet where you can stash a multitude of things. Plus it looks good open, where there are various shelves and mirrors, and closed.
Westkill featured a number of screen printed clocks, some with geometric patterns, others with softer, more organic designs.
Matthew Ward Studio showed a collection of their handmade, mid-century-inspired pottery, alongside Au Retour’s printed textiles.
Also in that booth was work by Peg Woodworking, including this incredible woven, wood stool.
Using a combination of treated corroded metal, machined bronze and brass, and crafted hardwoods, Roman Heczko of MOR-HE Art Tectonics spends over 500 man hours to built this chair.
Gorgeous bowls made from pieces of various wood species that are assembled and sanded smooth by KLOTZWRK.
From the Source designs all of their pieces in Brooklyn but manufactures them in Indonesia via sustainable sources, where they cut and dry their own wood.
Part of BKLYN DESIGNS’ Alumni Gallery where they brought back designers who had exhibited in the past, interior designer Christopher Coleman showed some colorful, acrylic accessories, like layered bookends.
Wax Rax manufactures storage pieces for vinyl collectors that make accessing the records super easy.
Part of the BKLYN DESIGNS pop-up shop section, Lesh displayed hand-woven jewelry made with fibers from Brazil and Germany.
