Overlap Series by Beth Goolsby

Los Angeles-based painter Beth Goolsby‘s Overlap series explores bright colors and geometric patterns in acrylic gouache and ink on wood panels.

The multi-dimensional chaos and frenetic energy of each composition is rooted with black elements and visible wood grain from the panels. I love how the color palette includes spots of neon and super bright colors.

The series was part of a joint show held at Rare Device in San Francisco.

Artist’s description of the work in the joint show:

As longtime friends living through mid-thirties transitions, our experiences seemed to converge more intensely than ever. This show is an attempt to find the meaning in that chaos that neither of us, in our separate solitary pursuits, could. Each piece is the product of the hopes, fears and delusions of the days, weeks and months of work that go into it. Sharing our work, as with sharing our paths, we find patterns, overlap.
