Potato Chip Stool: Lastu by Juhani Horelli

Juhani Horelli is a Finnish furniture designer with a new start-up company byHorelli. With pieces rooted in traditional scandinavian design but with a fresh twist, Horelli’s aim is to provide quality, nice-looking furniture at a reasonable price.

Well, I’m a pretty big fan of this stool, called Lastu. The seat is mold pressed veneer, and the legs, made of oak, are arranged in a tripod-styled formation with a metal pole driven horizontally across the legs to secure them and to maximize strength. I think it’s got some nice lines and I appreciate its simplicity.

The name ‘Lastu’ came from the seat’s potato-chip shape, hence Chip (Finnish Lastu).
