Questions of Identity by David Keller

david-keller-1

Although David Keller’s family moved from Russia to Israel when he was still a baby, his family still has a lot of Russian habits, Russian aesthetics and manners. Those manners and lifestyle were the foundation of his work during the final year of his studies at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem.

My project uses design as a method and a tool of examination and observation. The project deals with immigration of people and the culture diffusion caused by it. This absurd set of Russian/east European barbecue dishes examines the various points in which two cultures meet and how those meeting points create humor, absurd and emotion.

The products are: porcelain and gold barbecue, wooden hand fan/old cardboard holder, disposable cutlery with inserts made of gold, a tea cup holder for polystyrene disposable cups and a disposable vodka cup, made of two parts.
