Recycled Pallets Becomes Chairs with Acrylic Details

Wooden freight pallets are used by companies every day and eventually they end up in the landfill or are incinerated. Korean design studio Craft Combine decided to design a chair out of them, thereby saving some from becoming waste. The Pattered Pallet Chair gives new life to the old pallets, each showing their history with cracks and marks from previous use.

They researched the history of the pallet and discovered they were developed back in 1800 and through the mass production age in the early 1900s. The chairs’ patterns were inspired by Art Deco designs, which were prominent during that time.

Two chair styles were designed, both of which were outfitted with overlapping pieces of acrylic in different colors to create geometric patterns.
