Rich Brilliant Willing: Pro Forma

Last week, Chicago-based Volume Gallery debuted the premier, limited edition collection from Rich Brilliant Willing: Pro Forma.

Their first solo exhibition of limited edition work, Rich Brilliant Willing created a collection of storage pieces inspired by air shipping containers and what Rich Brilliant Willing identifies as a transient nature in the contemporary idea of home.

Shipping containers must be sculpted or rounded to fit into the curvy airplane interior to maximize space. Using this as their silhouette inspiration, Rich Brilliant Willing translated this idea into a series of home furnishings: a credenza, coffee table, bookshelf, side table and bar cabinet. However, instead of using rugged materials, instead they have selected leather, brass, lacquer, American hardwoods — all reminiscent of antique luggage trunks.
