ROAM Introduces First Online Customizable Luggage

Founded by two former Tumi executives, ROAM launches as the first luggage brand introducing a level of made-to-order, online personalization previously unseen, allowing travelers to customize their luggage so they never get lost amongst the procession of me-too designs popping out onto the airport carousel.

Customers are invited to make their ROAM polycarbonate shell (our personal preferred style of luggage to travel with noting polycarbonate’s ability to protect valuables within) case luggage their very own by choosing from a selection of options including outer shell colors, wheel caps, stitching, zipper and zipper pulls, binding, carry-handle, monogram patch and telescoping handle rods. Each piece is assembled in California before shipping in just three business days.

“Mass-produced products have lost their appeal to modern consumers who increasingly look for opportunities for self-expression in everything they do. The desire to express their individuality includes their choice in luggage,” says Co-Founder and CEO Larry Lein. “With ROAM we’re filling the gap in the market by giving people the power to engage in the design process and create luggage suited to their personality and lifestyle.”

Inside, the two compartments partnered with an apparel-grade mesh interior with two zip pockets allows for spacious organization.

ROAM luggage offers the usual accoutrements expected of travel gear today: TSA-approved combination lock, water-resistant exterior, smooth rolling wheels, telescoping handles, and even a leather initial patch with an engraved ID card, just in case your uniquely customized bag needs verification. What travelers will most appreciate beyond the capacity and features inherent in the ROAM’s design is the ability to spot their luggage without a doubt, noting the color combinations can reflect a level of personalization formerly unavailable as a direct to customer option.

ROAM suitcases is available in four sizes, starting at $350 for a traditional carry-on, with additional models, including a wide-body carry-on, a medium check-in, and their largest check-in model for longer excursions abroad.
