Scape Vase by Oato.

Scape is a minimalist design created by Netherlands-based designer Oato. The vases take the form of soft rolling mounds that transform any flat surface into a hilly landscape. The vases, which can be used to hold flowers, have hexagonal bases in order to seamlessly link two or more of the vessels together, evoking the user to create a setup and landscape of his or her choosing.

The vases are designed so that the flowers are merely an accessory to the decorative beauty of the object itself. The production of the vase was a collaboration with Dutch porcelain artisan Frans Ottink. Expertise in creating both a precise shape and geometry for the vase was necessary due to the modularity aspect of the design.

Although the object has a simple appearance, its execution was technically challenging. Scape is currently available in three varying sizes: a small size that is 6cm tall, a medium size that is 7.5cm tall, and a large size that is 9cm tall. The handmade vases are available in dark grey, camel, or light grey.
