Scholten & Baijings for Karimoku New Standard

Dutch design duo Scholten & Baijings created the COLOUR WOOD series of polygonal coffee, side, and dining tables for Karimoku New Standard featuring barrel-shaped bases. The collection was inspired by the traditional Japanese wood joint technique, yatoi-sanetsugi, where the bases are crafted from individual planks of wood that join together at a tricky angle in order to form the round tapered form. While some of the pieces remain in plain wood, others incorporate colors and graphic patterns printed directly onto the tabletops.
