A Secluded Beach Hut Village on Mexico’s Coast

Winter is barely here and the cold weather already has me dreaming of the dog days of summer. Discovering that the secluded beach hut village of Hotel Escondido is about to open up only makes matters worse. Located between the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra del Madre Sur mountain range, the hotel is situated on a pristine stretch of coastline north of Puerto Escondido, Mexico. For this month’s Design Destination, we head south of the border to discover a little piece of paradise on the Mexican coastline.

Hoteliers Carlos Couturier and Moisés Micha collaborated with architect Federico Rivera Rio to build the hotel which features 16 private bungalows that bear traditional palapa roofs. Just because they appear rustic, doesn’t mean that each one isn’t decked out with amenities that travelers look forward to.
