A Semi-Detached House in Belgium

Hired by a couple who love travel, sports, and books, Studio K renovated a semi-detached house near the center of Leuven, Belgium. The clients longed to brighten up the once-dark home so an extension was added with a courtyard in the middle to ensure light passed through the entire interior.

The addition was designed with exposed plywood panels, beams, and columns, which is juxtaposed with the black furnishings and finishes.

The kitchen hides away behind white sliding doors and when they’re open, the black backsplash and dark stained cabinets are revealed. The cabinet wall also disguises the door to the master bedroom.
