Empty Memory by Logical Art

This jewelry collection utilizes USB memory sticks as the medium. Dubbed, “Empty Memory,” this collection is designed by London-based Logical Art. The company is founded by Hanhsi Chen and Yookyung Shin in 2011 after their graduation from the Royal College of Art. The pieces are cast from stainless steel, and are hand-finished in white, black, or pink gold. The inner USB contains a 4GB Samsung flash.

The design comes with two versions: Structure and Transparent. They contain a physical emptiness within their enclosing to symbolize the memory that will fill the USB.

I like these pieces even if they didn’t have any functionality to them. I have seen some pretty ugly USB flash drives, and the pulchritude of this collection is further increased in contrast. I love the fact that both designs feature an empty space, which serves as a metaphor for the drive’s willingness to be populated by memory.
