Admiring the graphic design of this requires a willing suspension of historical fact – that this precedent was used as a weapon of mass murder and oppression on millions of people in Eastern Europe in the 20th century. This style is soaked in the blood of the innocent.

Jeez. Debbie Downer.

Propaganda posters were used by many different governments, both oppressive and democratic, throughout the 20th century. Furthermore, why does admiring the graphic design require you to ignore the oppression and murder that some regimes engaged in? I can easily do both, why can’t you?
ethan levine on 08.06.2011 at 13:57 PM
Agreed. I think these images can be critiqued on a the social and a graphic levels independently. Or, together, as a work of satire; doing the exact opposite of ignoring the past. “Group Think” people!

Get nosebleeds much, up on your moral high ground? Sheesh.

Not sure you know the definition of “moral high ground” Mr. 2011.

Other than the Soviet-styled poster these are all in the style of the US & UK posters, not Axis Powers. They’re excellent!

Love this!!!
Hitler is the father of contemporary propaganda, so what, we have to live with this fact and try our best not to recreate his ideas.
Benny Rexis on 08.03.2011 at 17:16 PM
Wouldn’t it be more correct to say that Joseph Goebbels is the father of contemporary propaganda? It’s true that he worked under Hitler but Goebbels was the guy with the ideas for propaganda campaigns.
Justin Time on 09.24.2011 at 12:56 PM
Goebbels may be the father, but his mantle has been assumed by Karl Rove. Achtung, baby!

Nice posters, but the advice is for idiots.

I’m glad Aaron wasn’t working for the communists back in the 50s I think he would have inspired them far more than some of their propaganda posters.
Aaron Wood on 12.28.2011 at 17:38 PM
Da comrade. ;)

The most ironic part about this all is the “Find us on Facebook” link on the page.

Aaron Wood created three propaganda posters featuring social media giants Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. Excuse me while I head on over to Facebook to help out my friends’ farms.
Shruti on 09.04.2013 at 08:27 AM
In fact, the posters are now compiled into a hardcover book that you can also buy off Aaron’s Etsy shop, which he created with the help of a kickstarter campaign. He says he is “eternally wicked grateful to everybody who helped me out there, and everybody who sponsored got their name in the book or got a copy of [it], depending on their prize level. It was great.” The book includes 26 of Aaron’s propaganda posters, and a description of each image’s inspiration.
Thanks,
Shruti
