LIFE.STYLE., an interior design firm, recently tackled the redesign of The Culver Studios, a production studio in Los Angeles. Rather than just putting up movie posters around the studio, the firm aimed to celebrate the work of the studio in a clever and creative way.
First, the “green light”. Stemmed out of the idea no projects can move forward without the “ok”, they created a bright sign above the reception desk with the cheeky saying, “This is your green light.” The sitting area features bespoke furniture and built-ins, featuring light, warm wood and copper accents. Thoughtful accents, including a script side table, add a light touch to the waiting room.
The murals on the wall were illustrated by two street artists, and are based on past projects. Bright colors and funky faces give the space another point of discussion.
They painstakingly created custom wallpaper out of old movie and TV scripts, and even historical photos that were all filmed at the lot.
The dining space has a decidedly modern edge, with reflective gold hexagonal wall mirrors and matte black chairs and pendant lamps. Cabinets, the fridge, and even the microwave all feature sleek, shiny surfaces to keep with the contemporary theme.
