Swing Bin is Almost Too Nice for Trash

At first glance you might not realize it’s a trash can but that’s what the Swing Bin is. The minimal design, by Shigeichiro Takeuchi, is so sleek, simple, and perfect, you almost don’t want to use it for trash. That’s the beauty of it though – It doesn’t scream trash can.

It has a simple cylinder shape with a diagonal opening and a thin, wooden lid that pivots, or swings, to let you throw your garbage away. There are no screws or mechanisms that make the lid tilt, it’s the diagonal cut and a lid that fits perfectly that make it work. It’s naturally balanced so it swings open and shut every time.
