CMYLK
The Nostalgic Art of Hollis Brown Thornton
South Carolina-based artist Hollis Brown Thornton brings us back to the '70s with his images of VHS tapes (Remember those? If not, we're way older than you!) For this week's CMYLK, we created Colourlovers palettes for a trio of his fun, colorful, and nostalgic works. The first piece is acrylic on canvas, and the other two are done in permanent marker on paper. Push play and let's go . . .
Apples and Honey - A Fall Harvest Color Palette
For this week’s CMYLK we’ve created a Colourlovers palette of classic autumnal hues, inspired by the Jewish Holidays. There's Rosh Hashana, during which one dips apples in honey for a sweet New Year, and also Sukkot, which celebrates the harvest. So although the leaves may not be turning just yet, fall is in the air.
Color Pop: Paul Kariouk's Architecture and Interiors
The carefully chosen, rich hues that Ottawa-based architect Paul Kariouk uses in his work make quite an impact, though the actual number of colors is fairly limited. An aqua-tinged navy paired with an almost neon orange, bar red against the forest greens, and acid pink and green are all inspiring pairs. For CMYLK, using Colourlovers palette tool, we picked those out, and then filled in the blanks with the neutrals.
