Anita Cooney, a designer and educator who was named Dean of Pratt Institute's School of Design last year, shares what keeps her inspired.

A few weeks ago, Pratt Institute's Undergraduate Communications Design Department held its 9th annual Halloween Costume and Pumpkin Carving Contest and the winners are pretty darn creative. I just couldn't resist posting these even though you're probably already thinking about turkey (no? just me?). Being in an area of New Jersey that had some damage from Hurricane Sandy, it really feels like we didn't have a Halloween at all this year, so seeing these creative costumes made me smile and think about making next year's Halloween that much better.

I thought it might be fun to follow around a student designer to get a better idea of what it's like to be a design student these days (or a student in general!). Pratt Institute Industrial Design student Casey Daurio, who graduates in 2013, gladly offered us the opportunity to peek inside his everyday world.
