Take 5: A Tinted Glassware Obsession, Double Duty Vase + More

Every other week we’re inviting one of the Design Milk team to share five personal favorites – an opportunity for each of us to reveal the sort of designs we use and appreciate in our own lives from a more personal perspective. Commerce editor, Alexa Morales returns this week for our Take 5 series.

Take 5: A Tinted Glassware Obsession, Double Duty Vase + More

1. Pleated Pitcher by Areaware

My fiancé and I are getting hitched this year, and this Areaware Pitcher was one of the first things we added to our registry. I love the juxtaposition of the sculptural, pleated form with its smooth, curved handle. But what I love even more is the fact that it doubles as a gorgeous flower vase – earning it permanent residence on our tabletop. I can already see myself pouring batch cocktails out of this beauty for guests! It’ll fit right in with my favorite Greenery Unlimited planter, too!

ordinary habit puzzle

2. Enchanted Puzzle by Eurekart Studio x Ordinary Habit

I’m always on the prowl for new puzzles, and the multi-tonal greens in the Enchanted Puzzle by Ordinary Habit immediately drew me in. Eurekart Studio’s design captures a magic-filled evening of stargazing in amongst the trees – the perfect escape from my phone and the never-ending news cycle. The puzzle’s soft, whimsical details, like the content kitties perched on the central figure’s lap, the disheveled stack of books, and the plume of chimney smoke in the distance, only add to its charm and make it more of a joy to put together. Plus, it’s 500 pieces, making it a totally do-able challenge you can conquer in a weekend at most.

mega dot pillow from dittohouse

3. Mega Dot Pillow Cover by Dittohouse

I love mixing and matching prints and patterns, and the more joy-inducing colors and textiles I have around, the better! The eye-catching stripes and the bright, yellow and red-orange split on the Mega Dot Pillow Cover are exactly what my living space needed. I adore the op-art inspired design, and the way its bold and playful color palette creates a modern, primary-esque color scheme on my navy-blue couch. And it’s knit using a blend of recycled cotton and polyester for a plush feel that’s fit for cuddling!

luisa acqua glasses

4. Luisa Acqua Glasses in Citrine Green (Set of 2) by Obakki

Some people collect coins, postcards, and vinyl – I collect vintage and tinted glassware. My cupboard contains a collage of multicolored cups and mugs, and these Luisa Acqua glasses would make a perfect addition to the mix. I’m obsessed with the deep, earthy citrine color, and the green glow they cast onto my tabletop when the light hits them just right. The durable, borosilicate glass can stand up to everyday use (and my chronic clumsiness), and each glass is mouth blown by expert Italian artisans, imbuing them with a unique story that makes them even more special!

noka.design candles

5. Summer in Lago Di Garda Candle in Matte Pink by Noka.Design

This Noka.Design candle was a highlight from my recent bathroom refresh. Hand-sculpted using a veggie-based wax blend, the Summer in Lago Di Garda Candle brings unique, modern forms to my space that’s intentionally designed to artfully change shape as it burns. The neroli-tinged scent is inspired by the Noka.Design founders’ summers spent on the Italian coast, and while I have no intentions of ever lighting it, I love that the candle’s aroma can still fill my bathroom even while unlit. I’d recommend mixing and matching with Noka.Design’s other shapes and sizes for maximum impact!
