Tapio: Glass Vases with Copper Accents

Working with borosilicate glass, Giorgio Bonaguro continues his study of glass with a collection of vases called Tapio. Glass work is a tradition of Italy and Finland, so this series is meant to honor the work of Finnish glass artist and sculptor, Tapio Wirkkala, and the work of Italian glass blowers.

The results come from looking at the collaborations between designers and glass manufacturers throughout the sixties and seventies. Taking inspiration from those collaborations, this collection was created having simple shapes with a modern twist by emphasizing the heads of the vases and accenting them with metals.
