The Garden of Edyn Is Naturally Centered Around Its Lush Plants

Two London-based design studios, Maison August and Atelier Ochre, recently combined their talents to complete the office space for hospitality group Edyn, whose portfolios cover some of our favorite hotels (Locke, SACO, Wittenberg, and The Moorgate). Naturally, as its name suggests, the new space needed to be lush and green with an emphasis of natural materials to mimic the feeling of being in a garden.

The open floor plan of the office was divided into distinct sections for specific modes of work: co-working, traditional meeting, informal lounge spaces, and hot desking. Plants not only enliven the space but pull double duty as privacy screens.

To uphold the company’s values in sustainability, the studios used recycled vinyl and textile offcuts to create a sustainable, retro-looking flooring material. The metallic colors drive the overall color scheme of the whole office.

Modern furniture is mixed with antique pieces to create a homey, lived in feeling especially for the informal breakout spaces. Wherever there was an inch of unused space, contained trees and plants were added to cultivate that indoor/outdoor feeling.

A mobile cocktail bar unit and a DJ booth on wheels, paneled with bright perspex, are both unconventional touches that speak to the kind of ethos Edyn wanted for its office – vibrant, playful, with a sense of community.
