The Narrow Kvitfjell Cabin on Top of the Mountains in Norway

Resting atop Kvitfjell in Norway is the cozy Kvitfjell Cabin that spans 26 meters long allowing for more views of the neighboring mountaintops and the horizon. Kvitfjell (Norwegian for “White Mountain”) is a ski resort created for the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, making it an ideal locale for a family retreat. Designed by Erling Berg, the mountain cabin is built out of local pine wood with an exterior and roof left untreated so it will natural age into a grey color over time.

Vertical wooden slats are randomly placed adding visual interest to the cabin’s unfinished exterior walls.

The interior is wrapped in white oiled pine that helps to keep the spaces bright during the long winters. A large window is placed at the end of the living room, as is a smaller horizontal one on the side, framing the picturesque surroundings.

Home furnishings are kept minimal, mostly wood, with the exception of a few soft colors.

The wooden-clad walls extend to the kitchen cabinets keeping the look clean and minimal.
