I’ve been stalking Brooklyn-based painter Erik Jones on Instagram for a few years now and I’m always delighted and inspired when one of his images pops up in my feed. He pairs portraits of beautiful women (and other things like skulls) with bold, abstract geometric shapes that are often times imperfect and appear a bit messy. He’s been able to do something that I often find difficult, which is to merge a variety of styles into one painting and make it totally work.
