The Scenografie Collection Puts Succulents on an Architectural Stage

The Scenografie collection from LATOxLATO is a series of three architecturally-inspired cache pots designed to hold succulents. The planters are miniature theatrical pieces that combine the pot and stand into a single object. Studio founders Virginia Valentini and Francesco Breganze de Capnist found further inspiration in Italian art and the paintings of Giorgio De Chirico. The resulting collection is unexpected, each recalling an iconic architectural element that takes on a dream-like state.

“We created this new collection [for LATOxLATO] when we realized that there weren’t as many options for displaying cactus plants as there were classic flowerpots for other houseplants. We started exploring the world of succulents and discovered marvelous examples of varied colors and complex, fleshy shapes. It’s not always enough to show off one of these unique beauties on a plain white wall or a crowded bookshelf. That gave us the idea to design a real “stage” where a cactus could be the star of the show,” explain Valentini and de Capnist.

Quinta n. 1 is an series of arches that creates perspective, while Quinta n. 2 evokes the geometries of a cathedral. Quinta n. 3 is a majestic, abstract stairway. Each planter is designed to show off the succulent planted inside.

All three micro-architecture settings created by the planters are made from laser-cut iron that’s hand-welded before being painted with a powder coating that’s resistant to corrosion, water, and other aggressive agents. In other words, the Scenografie collection can also be used outdoors.

Each planter is made in Italy with the most quality craftsmanship, even featuring invisible welds. Choose from a color palette that includes mica gray, corten, and tortoiseshell.
