The Stackable, Flat-Pack Lab Stool by King & Webbon

Designer Andy King, of King & Webbon, partnered with the Science Museum to create the Lab Stool, with the hope of possibly turning the idea into a new series. The Lab Stool isn’t your average stool – it’s a flat-pack design that can be assembled with a simple Allen wrench in less than 15 minutes. Made and hand-finished in the UK out of sustainably-sourced beech ply, the stackable design is a take on stools found in science labs which King remembers from being in school.

The Lab Stool kicks off a flat-pack furniture collaboration between the design studio and the Science Museum in London in anticipation of creating pieces that are designed to last instead of cheap, throw-away furniture. Marking the opening of the museum’s new shop, the stool is now available at the Science Museum’s shop and via King & Webbon.
