When Tiny Is More Than Enough: The Monocabin in Rhodes, Greece

On an island like Rhodes, Greece, you don’t need much to have the most idyllic vacation of your life, which is why the Monocabin is the perfect place for you to relax, unwind and soak in the scenic beach views this island offers.

Less is more at this tiny vacation rental but also, tiny is actually just enough. Designed by Mandalaki Design Studio, the micro home is the studio’s first architectural prototype exemplifying their vision of design, which is a return to the basics. Mandalaki sees the Monocabin as “a livable design object,” a juxtaposition of modern, streamline design and organic surroundings.

The 1-bed, 1-bath house is indeed small but so thoughtfully designed that you’ll have everything you need to make yourself feel right at home, including a kitchen, storage area, closet, garden-view terrace, outdoor shower, and fitness zone. Additional amenities include a projector for Netflix movie watching, a Bluetooth sound system, lounge furniture, and a welcome food box filled with Greek eats, like feta, honey, bread and oil. Not sure how to explore the town? A suggested 3-day itinerary is included that highlights the best places to sight-see, dine at, and windsurf (the island is filled with over 300 beaches!).

Mandalaki believe design can help make the world a better place, and wants the Monocabin to be a platform to do so as well. Artists and designers can participate in art residencies during low season and donations from a portion of the accommodation fees are made to support the Leonardo di Caprio Foundation.

Tiny isn’t often the word you want to describe your vacation rental but at the simple and picturesque Monocabin, it’s everything you need it to be and more.
