Tom Dixon’s Plans for His New Showroom in New York’s Soho Design District

One of the most exciting pieces of news from this year’s NYCxDESIGN week made Greene Street extra trafficky as New York’s design lovers flocked to Tom Dixon’s new NYC flagship showroom in the Soho Design District.

Spread out across 6,700 and two separate floors, the showroom operates as a storefront for Tom Dixon’s growing catalogue of lighting, furniture, home decor and accessories but Dixon has bigger plans for it. The space will also act as multi-disciplinary platforms for innovation in design. That means you can expect unique events like the Flash Factory pop-up (where visitors can take home their own limited edition Etch Light after learning how exactly Tom Dixon manufactures each one), speaking engagements on the topic of current + emerging trends in design, or, like last week, an intriguing black banquet serving black bread and black meringue to celebrate the unveiling of the Black Collection.

Dixon is already tossing around new ideas for the future of the showroom. Pending the retail red tape of logistical planning and NYC permitting, you might stop by the store to find a cafe serving espressos and pressed juice, or even a bouncer checking the crowd into an underground discotheque (a nod to Dixon’s past music life before he became a designer). Whatever is in the future for the showroom, you can expect to find many more traffic jams on 25 Greene Street.

To visit the new store, stop by 25 Greene St, New York, NY 10013.
