Designer Christian Vivanco partnered with Nido Muebles, a company focused on the development of child-appropriate objects, to create Traven. Traven is a collection of woven furniture for children that consists of an armchair, a stool, and a toy box.
They don’t look like your average pieces of children’s furniture though. The pieces are made of wicker, certified wood, and handmade wool with openings on the side. They’re designed to engage with the child and can adapt as needed for when the child grows.
The child can climb on them, store their toys, or just sit on them, all the while having a fun, playful set to interact with.
The collection was inspired by Bruno Traven’s short story “Baskets in Series”, which references the relationship between craft and industry of contemporary consumption.
