Unfolding Canvas Minimalist Apartment by OFGA

Unfolding Canvas is an apartment located in PokFuLam, Hong Kong designed by OFGA. The architects wanted to redefine the typical norms when designing a small-space apartment in Hong Kong, and instead focus on creating an environment centered around lifestyle and living in the moment.

The designers made a conscious decision to shift away from a design strategy centered around compartmentalization, and instead focus on achieving continuity of material and space.

While the clients wanted an open plan, there were concerns in maintaining privacy and comfort. The architects decided to create pockets and slightly adjacent spaces which would, “condense absolute privacy to a minimal footprint, freeing up the rest of the space to interpretation.” The result is a series of spaces that open up to each other like an unfolding canvas.
