Vue Hotel’s first flagship location in Houhai, Beijing is unlike most hotels you’ll come across in China. With an unapologetically modern approach, the hotel creates a whimsical yet authentic experience for the global traveler. The Vue Hotel Beijing is also a member of the Design Hotels collective of modern, boutique hotels around the world.
The hotel is inspired by the Houhai lake and its animal inhabitants, which you’ll notice very quickly because of the human-like sculptures of foxes, rabbits and deer in fluorescent colors that greet you upon your arrival.
However, you’ll also see that the Ministry of Design, the studio responsible for the design and art direction of the hotel, made sure to maintain a level of authenticity. There are decorative roof eaves, gargoyles, and lattice window frames that are quintessential to the Chinese architectural style and approach. All buildings are painted dark charcoal gray with gold accents, a theme that continues into the hotel.
The interiors of the hotel take a different, more modern direction with a focus on spatial design.
Inside the guest rooms, spaces are divided by colors, tones and materials. Art installations and pops of fluorescent colors continue the overarching theme of the hotel. While the sleeping areas are minimalistic for a restful night’s sleep, the bathrooms take a more dramatic approach.
There are multiple social hubs and eateries on the property: The FAB cafe and bakery, the Pink Rabbit restaurant, and the rooftop Moon Bar overlooking the lake.
