Waver Chair by Konstantin Grcic for Vitra

The Waver chair is the first collaborative project between Konstantin Grcic and Vitra. This lightweight chair — great for both residential and commercial use — is inspired by outdoor sports.

The idea for this chair was to look to different places for inspiration in design and outdoor sports, like windsurfing and paragliding, seemed to be most appropriate given the desire to create a high-performance, yet lightweight chair.

The suspended (waterproof) fabric-spanned seat and tubular steel frame is reminiscent of a paraglider. Because it is cantilevered and lightweight, it contours to ones body allowing for flexibility of movement. The base is also flexible with the addition of swivel capability.
