Well is a properly named light given the design is inspired by traditional water wells. The table lamp incorporates the idea of a simple wooden handle mechanism that winds and unwinds the cord changing the height of the bulb. Designed by Mejd Studio, the glass structure changes the look of the light when the bulb is lowered further down due to the gradient blue and sanded matte finishes of the glass.
The glass is blown at Czech glass workshop AJETO into wooden molds and then drilled to make way for the oiled maple handles and brass details. The bulb socket is also made from brass which make it heavier in weight so it hangs properly as it goes up and down. A textile cable holds the socket referencing the ropes that are used in real wells.
