What to Expect from The 9th Edition of designjunction at London Design Festival

The ninth edition of designjunction is just around the corner! There’s about a month left until the design extravaganza hits the King’s Cross Design District this coming September 19-22, 2019 during London Design Festival. We’ll be there to check out the newest in furniture, lighting and accessory design – will you? If you haven’t already, register here. Otherwise, read on to see highlights you can expect from this year’s show.

You’ll want to put your walking shoes on because there will be a lot of ground to cover if you want to check out everything. There are three key exhibition spaces you’ll want to seek out: the Cubitt House, to discover the latest designs by furniture and lighting brands; the Lewis Cubitt Park, to check out emerging talent; and the West Handyside Canopy, to shop from the 70 boutique pop-up shops selling fashion accessories, tech accessories, ceramics, glassware, stationery, and more. Over at the King’s Cross Light Tunnel, the RADO Star Prize awards will take place and over at the Everyman Cinema, a program of engaging talks will be hosted, curated by Grant Gibson.

This year’s theme, (Re)act, encourages exhibitors to recognize their role as agents of change and react to issues facing the world today. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of products and activations brands will create to interpret this theme. In addition, the dynamic talks at Everyman Cinema will tackle a range of topics to challenge the status quo and encourage dialogue to create change. “The Future: Design in Turbulent Times,” “Queer Culture and the City,” and “Dyslexia and Design” are just a few on the program. See the rest and get tickets here.

Of course, we’re probably most excited to see the latest designs from emerging and legacy brands and witness the brilliance of British craftsmanship. Furniture, lighting, accessory, ceramics, prints, jewelry – there’s no shortage of niche design to uncover. To start, TedWood will be launching its new collection of handcrafted, sustainable, and contemporary wooden furniture and lighting that highlights the beauty of the grain. Brook Studio will be launching its first ever chair alongside its new gorgeous sideboards. In ceramics, Harriet Casin will be showcasing her collection, a beautiful line of soft colors and simple forms. For pattern lovers, Laura Knight Studio proves that color and pattern can also be minimal with her line of stationery and prints.
