Woo Furniture Designs Connect Us With Our Inner Child
If sculptural furniture draws you in you’re going to want to familiarize yourself with Woo. The brand has been doing just that for six years, drawing inspiration from life, exploring the world, and our connection with our inner child. It all results in creative, unique, bright objects that grab your attention and ask for interaction. Recently Woo introduced four products designed by Ukrainian designer Dmitry Kozinenko – two concepts and two models. Let’s dive in!
A concept at this point, the Play armchair relies on several geometric elements for its shape. Inspired by the ring toss game you likely played as a child, the seating is emotional, sincere, and of course – playful. “Children driven by the desire to win games are unstoppable. It is an incredible feeling when you are totally absorbed by some task and put everything into achieving success. We also can feel that powerful motivation when we work on some exciting task. For me, it is finding new shapes in furniture design,” said Kozinenko.
The second concept is the Full Fill mirror, inspired by the one and only Salvador Dalí. The mirror itself almost seems to flow forth from the circular frame, maybe into a different world. The frame/base is covered in furniture upholstery, allowing the mirror to better match a room’s color palette. Full Fill mirror exists in two sizes: a full-length floor mirror and a small wall mirror. The floor mirror also includes a little shelf that’s hidden between the mirror itself and the wall.
“When I came to visit my parents, who live in a village in Western Ukraine, I noticed how carefully my father puts wood next to the wood stove. Three sticks along, three sticks across, repeated again and again. It makes a perfect stable construction. This simple rhythm looks aesthetic and cozy,” Kozinenko said of his inspiration for the Drova pouf.
Drova is very functional, with a convenient to move shape. Available in both small and medium poufs, it’s constructed of either four or six elements. The various pouf sizes and colors can be combined with each other for some truly creative outcomes.
If you like to interact with furniture, the Loop pouf is for you. What is it? How do you sit on it? Both great questions with no single answer. Its asymmetric shape is eye-catching no matter where it’s placed, but there’s no seat back. The two upholstered round discs sit perpendicular to each other, making the entire experience a game in itself as you explore endless ways to use it.
