Pastel colors have slowly been making a comeback after falling out of favor in recent decades. Instead of going over the top with them, designers are incorporating subtle accents throughout the spaces they’re designing, adding pastel color without it being too sticky sweet. A Victorian home in Melbourne, featured in Est Magazine, got a makeover courtesy of designer Fiona Lynch. The transformation helped to modernize it with a subtle palette of soft grays and whites which were made far less boring with two shelves painted out in pink and a piece of art with a pale blue and minty green.

This modern kitchen, designed by E/L Studio, might rock primary colors for most of its accents, but they went with a soft pastel blue/green color on the painted floors. It seems to ground the other bright colors in the room.

In the Danish offices of fashion house Becksöndergaard, the kitchen offers a more toned down approach with neutrals, woods, and dusty pastels. White walls and a rustic wood floor soften all of the pink.

This living room featured in GoodHomes magazine has a few accents of bright colors, but mostly the space is dotted with soft pastels that are grounded by white.

This Taipei apartment, by Tai & Architectural Design, is pretty minimal, including the clean bedroom that has all white walls, white pendants, and a white headboard. The fun bedding and different colored end tables bring in hints of pastel colors elevating the almost stark aesthetic.
