Coca-Cola approached Emeco a few years back to create the 111 Navy Chair, which resembles Emeco’s classic aluminum Navy chair. The chairs are made of Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (rPET), or recycled plastic Coke bottles (111 to be exact!) and a mix of pigment and glass fiber. With these chairs, Coke wanted to prove that things other than more plastic bottles could be made using recycled plastic. The chair launched in Milan and will be sold exclusively through Design Within Reach.
