3Tone Halftone Art by Jeffrey Sgroi

Jeffrey Sgroi is an engineer and artist whose 3Tone Halftone three-dimensional pieces are a mixture of photography and abstract art. He takes a photograph and digitizes it into a halftone photograph, basically turning tones from a photo into dots. Based on the photo he’s using, a computer-controlled router programmed by him, drills thousands of various sized holes into a block of painted Corian. The result is a graphic and textural representation of a photograph.

Sgroi is in the final stages of his Kickstarter campaign in hopes of acquiring his own equipment and facility to produce his work, as well as being able to purchase bulk amounts of Corian. For a donation of $50 or more you will receive your very own 3Tone piece from a photo you send him.
