Swedish design student, Måns Salomonsen, created two pieces of furniture with a unique approach. His first project, a bar table (pictured above), includes a series of metal bars that twist and support the top while providing foot rests. The round tabletop is made out of plastic filled aluminum foam, giving the surface an interesting speckled appearance.

If someone can take an old pair of jeans and edit it to become a new bag, the same approach could be used for furniture. This is exactly what Salomonsen did with his second project, the Upcycle. It’s a total deconstruction of an old wooden sofa that resulted in a yellow-painted backless rocking stool, a new approach to the traditional rocking chair.

Really like the bar table. Kind of looks woven or like spokes of a rim pulled apart.
