Mark A. Reigelman II has designed this Bite silverware in an effort to help raise awareness of worldwide epidemics such as starvation and obesity.

He explains “each day millions of individuals lay in hunger while millions more are wastefully overeating. This set of ‘bitten’ silverware highlights the daunting reality of both worldly plagues.”

Jaime Derringer, Founder + Executive Editor of Design Milk, is a Jersey girl living the laid back life in SoCal. She dreams about architectural jewelry + having enough free time to enjoy some of her favorite things—running, reading, and drawing.

Yeah, this will really help “raise awareness” right here. This is really going to help people DO something about the problems of society, either supposed (obesity) or actual (starvation)

Surely this isn’t just a hypocritical bourgeoisie luxury items. Surely not.

  I agree, AnarchoRationalist… I enjoy eating…a lot…I love the design. Using an item like this isn’t going to make me think, “Oh, I am fat, I should stop eating.” Nor will it make me aware there are starving children in a 3rd world country. That reminder I still leave to my mother. But I would still purchase an item like this for whimsy and enjoy using it to stuff my face. LMAO.

    I think the point is that the person who designed this is well known and he uses this interesting design to attract attention, so you may not DO anything about it but the more people get talking about it the better. I think its a great idea and it works for me, I saw the picture on facebook and here I am now talking about world hunger, therefore awareness has been raised!!!
